Girl Rights Initiative Village School Children

“Educate a boy, and you educate an individual, but educate a girl, and you educate a nation.”

African proverb
Girl Rights Initiative School Children

An African proverb. “It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farmworkers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.” In Nelson Mandela’s 1995 Long Walk to Freedom Memoir he explained to us the importance of education, and many years onward, his perception about education is still an intense struggle for many girls on the African continent.
